In 2007, the occupants of hunting preserves in the district of Regen were asked to complete a questionnaire concerning the status of Hazel Grouse (Bonasa bonasia) and any changes to this status. The results of this questionnaire are presented here. From most localities, a marked decrease or complete disappearance of the species was reported. Suspected causes were deterioration of habitat and the increase of predators, especially fox and wild pig
